To Accomplish My Ambitions in Haiti We Need A Community
Though we are living through a great trial here in the United States, which seems at times unbearable, may I make you uncomfortable for a minute? I am asking you to think about what living with this pandemic in Haiti would be like. Food scarcity, historical inflation, civil unrest, lack of medical care, and unreliable electricity, even more so than usual…. Yes, lets put this all into a realistic perspective. I do not know about you, but the circumstances during this pandemic have not SERIOUSLY altered my life (if they have seriously affected you, then I ask you to please let me know how I can help you).
I'm engaging any and all of those that have worked with me, know about my projects or have their own interest in Haiti.
To accomplish my ambitions in Haiti I need a community. This community not only serves as possible volunteers, board members, and travel companions but brings inspiration and improvements to the projects implemented by Aid in Action.
Aid in Action was established ten years ago, and while it has evolved over time, its main goals continue; the education of children pre-kindergarten through 8th grade in the slum of Citi of Repatriates and the training of traditional midwives throughout the country.
Gratefully, I have been able to continue sending money every month even though the school is not in session now (civil unrest and COVID-19). I have been sending enough for people to eat, our barest of necessities. However, I would like to do more.
On December 5th, I will attempt my first 50k trail race: The McDowell Mountain Frenzy in Arizona. My motivation for those 31 miles? Those that are in need in Haiti. Each mile I run will raise the money needed by children for another year of school: children who, without Aid in Action, wouldn't be able to attend school when the pandemic is over. Even if this race is canceled because of COVID, I will still run that distance here in Colorado, raising funds for AIA.
